The Lagos State Special Marshal Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has inaugurated a new set of executives to lead the voluntary arm of the Corps for the next two years.

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place on Saturday, marked the official handover of leadership from the outgoing administration headed by Olusegun Olaitan to the newly elected team led by Olabisi Dennis, who now serves as the State Coordinator.

Other newly inaugurated officers include Tokulah Joseph as Deputy State Coordinator, Joann Otaru as State Secretary, with Ezekiel Ojabulu as her Assistant. Kehinde Afolabi was sworn in as Financial Secretary, while Adeyemi Janet will serve as Treasurer, among others.

The Special Marshals are a voluntary wing of the FRSC, comprising professionals and individuals who commit their personal time and resources to road safety advocacy, public education, and support for traffic management efforts.

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, emphasized that safety remains the Corps' fundamental mission.

“The essence of the whole thing is to ensure safety. Don’t forget, FRSC has three tiers: the regular marshals, the special marshals, and members of the road safety club,” Hamzat stated.
“The Special Marshals are those offering voluntary services. All our efforts are geared towards ensuring the safety of lives and property. Together, we can move Nigeria forward. Safety is everyone’s business.”

He charged the new executives to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, and professionalism as enshrined in the FRSC Establishment Act, noting that they are expected to complement the work of the regular marshals and lead by example.

“They should not flout orders or engage in conduct that contradicts public expectations,” he said. “Rather, they should always remain ambassadors of safety in both action and character.”

In his inaugural address, State Coordinator Olabisi Dennis expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, describing his emergence as a divine privilege.

“I stand before you today with a heart overflowing with gratitude and humility to accept the responsibility and honour of serving as the State Coordinator of the Special Marshals in RS2.1, Lagos,” he said.
“This moment is not just a personal milestone but a testament to God’s unfailing grace, divine orchestration, and undeniable presence in our affairs.”

Reflecting on his tenure, outgoing coordinator Olusegun Olaitan expressed satisfaction and pride in the accomplishments of his team.

“I am filled with a mix of gratitude, pride, and a sense of accomplishment,” he said. “Though we started on a rough path, we were able to build a harmonious relationship. I hope the new executives will jealously guard and sustain it.”

The newly sworn-in officers are expected to drive fresh momentum in the FRSC’s road safety advocacy efforts across Lagos State.
