Candidates of the 14 political parties contesting the August 15 Osun governorship election have signed a peace accord, pledging to ensure a peaceful and violence-free poll.

INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, warned that anyone involved in election violence or vote-buying would face the full weight of the law, assuring voters that adequate security and electoral personnel would be deployed across the state.

Governor Ademola Adeleke called for impartial policing and a free, fair and transparent election, while the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, urged political actors to shun violence and place the interest of Osun State above politics.
