Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Professor Lai Olurode and Professor Sylvester Akhaine have called on Nigerians, especially public officeholders, to emulate the late former Lagos State Governor, Lateef Jakande, describing his legacy of integrity, selfless service and people-centred governance as a model for national development.
They made the call at the 4th Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Lagos.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Professor Akhaine urged the media, the Independent National Electoral Commission and voters to uphold truth, transparency and accountability to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy, while Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, praised Jakande as a journalist whose leadership demonstrated that the media could produce outstanding public servants.
